About Aurturia

Who
I'm Aurturia a blood elf rogue. I had originally started as Hellokittie, a female gnome rogue. From the start I had always had the intentions of using the character for PVP content exclusively. The name was meant to irritate anyone I had ganked or defeated, choosing gnome was on a whim of being funny but would later be a great boon in pvp. In BC I reached Gladiator rank twice playing only part time. The majority of my time spent was playing my main character in a raiding guild. In WOTLK my character went from it's spot as a pvp character to a main raiding character. As encounters as far as the tanking aspect goes, became more watered down, I more and more leaned to this character to make it interesting again. It was about this time that I had talked with my current Arena Partner about playing. Through amassing gear in ICC and putting in work with Arenas and Battlegrounds, we're climbing higher each week.

When
I've also played a Protection Specced Human Paladin since PreBC where in BC I was an officer and a CO-MainTank in a guild that through the expansion would climb from the middle ranks to a very successful top 5 Faction spot on Shattered Hand. I maintanked many raid encounters long before any other paladin had. In WOTLK my guild would climb to top 5 on the Server, top 3 Faction side until the opening of TOC, I along with friends later Xferred to Lightning's Blade, we joined a very elite high end guild that instantly proved to be more fortuitous than our previous homes. I had already made the switch to rogue, and my arena partner followed me here.

How Come
Why Rogue? It certainly shouldn't be anyones first pick considering how many rogues are out there. It also wouldn't be a first pick considering as of writing this, Wizard Hat classes are dominating the game.
What did it for me was watching guild friends who played rogues. Namely Pillo, Archdemon and a few other friends that I had been around to watch day in and day out. Watching them I felt as though the rogue as a PVP character offered something I hadn't had yet in the game. The ability to be truly creative and selective.
While initially I was a fanboy of the class, I later would appreciate the class for so much more. I had hit 70 and became moderately geared about half way through Burning Crusade. I played the infamous spec of Shadowstep/Hemo. After I was running around with Pillo he explained Mutilate spec to me. He talked of the rogue Akrios and his site roguerogue.com that housed Akrios and his then partner Nition. Both largely played Mutilate. After watching these 3 rogues play I was set on what I wanted to play.
Mutilate didn't have the same snap style of movement that Shadowstep provided. It took SKILL. You had to be behind your target to Mutilate, you at the time didn't have the ability to prep and premed. After playing it I really felt I was a better player because it was a necessity to have good movement skills.
The rogue is one of the very few classes that you have entire control of what your going to go after, when you do it, and how. In a battleground if you dislike something you see, you can just walk away. The class also offers perhaps the biggest reward for creativity. Ever shadowstep a warrior that's charging you? Blind a vanish, sap/cheapshot a vanish? Shadowstep kick a heal? The class offers a huge bag of tricks to play with to be creative with.
