Tomorrow

Well tomorrow obviously is the release of a new wing in ICC. This is probably the biggest news for a wide range of people. I'm looking forward to it and perhaps my rogue will find itself some drops.
As a sidenote I recently found out the guild comprised of some former DNT (death and taxes) players along with other raiding luminaries put together a pug that took down Putricide. Is this big news? Not by itself, its the fact that they did so before SOJ (Servants of Justice), a guild that has consistantly been in the higher end of progression since they formed way long ago. As we speak they're getting flamed into charred bits on the server forums.

There's also the possibility of a new VOA boss coming out the following week. This all depends on when Blizzard decides to end the current Arena Season. They reported that the close of the season could be as early as tomorrow. With 1 week as per normal of rated arenas being closed. After that week is up, titles are handed out, the new season starts and we get a new boss, with all its Frost Badge glory.
Whenever they release a new VOA boss it provides the possibility of getting the latest and greatest of the Arena Gear, so you can expect me to be hounding guildies to put together a run the day it comes out.
What's the importance of PVP gear to the person that doesn't ever really pvp? Well if you play on a PVP server it does hold a degree of importance. If your a tank you don't so much mind since nothing is likely to kill you quickly, as long as your decently geared that is. I never really gave a crap if someone came up to me and wailed on me, thinking he was going to gank me and steal whatever node I was on. I'd merely kill them take my node and move on.
But perhaps you have other characters, ones with farming professions that you might lean on yourself for materials or cash. In my case, my rogue is a Miner/Blacksmith, and alliance side ore was selling for a mint. I'd send all the titanium to my Paladin to prospect and keep the saronite on my rogue to sell for great prices.
The issue with farming on the rogue for ore, is that I can't stay alive like my tank can. This is where the pvp gear comes into play.
Even if I know or can't manage to kill someone. I know that they won't be able to kill me in a few seconds, and take my node before I can get back. With some resilience I can react, make a decision to fight, or vanish and sap them, blind them, whatever, take the node and escape.
If you have another character which does provide income through farming, getting some pvp gear is definately something I recommend to make life a bit easier.

As for myself, as an avid arena player, it means this could be the last day to get matches in. It also means that if you're not honor or token capped, today is the day to start cramming battlegrounds of any sort in. Myself I'm honor capped but I got some work to do as far as tokens go.

The new season presents some new changes for sure, they always do. Protection Warriors can see this day as nerf day if your protection. No doubt warriors in general are unhappy about this nerf, some more than others. I'll leave my views out on this post as it doesn't coincide with the topic above.
There's a few changes across the board, this happens every arena season without fail.
There was a interview with a blizzard employee where people are paraphrasing and taking certain parts out of context. What many sites and people are reporting is that it was said that "arenas are the biggest mistake we've made with the game." Each site has a variant of that snippet, but all say the relatively same thing.
However if you read the actual article it becomes apparent that what's being reported is far from the truth.
It was simply stated that the Arena aspect of WOW has turned into something that's very challenging to manage and balance, and if they had to start over again developing wow, they would have either planned the game with arena in it, or not have arenas in the game. Simply stated because if they had originally intended arenas to be in the game, they could have planned better ways of balancing. It in no way means "arenas is the biggest mistake."
It's even mentioned in the real article that the attention Arena has brought to WOW has been nothing short of amazing and awesome.

We'll see what happens tomorrow, if the season ends I'll be bittersweet about it, losing out on a title but having all the tools now to once again compete up to my potential. Lets not forget, more frost badges :)
